Trick Air Fly in 2025

Winter flying in Minnesota offers some unique and fun fly ins. Trick Air has been sponsoring their fly-in at Jackson Seaplane base (MN61) to promote winter flying and ski flying for the past nine years.

The weather was perfect for ski-plane flying, cold temperatures, light winds and some occasional sun. Approximately 20 planes came from all over the state, including; the metro area, Brainerd, Duluth and Iron Range.

This year featured a ski runway and plowed ice runway. The plowed runway was 90 feet wide and 3700 feet long and this year we had a plowed taxiway also.

Cold temperatures greeted the winter pilots and the first order of business after landing was to put blankets on engines to keep them warm. The MN DNR had the "hot set-up" and brought a small generator to power the engine warmer to ensure some reasonable engine temperatures.

After parking pilots made their way to the warming tent complete with fire pits and delicious hot lunch. The menu consisted of pulled pork, cowboy beans and chowder. A big shout out to Dave Harmon, owner of the Blue Moose Lodge and his employees for helping with set up. Kathy and Kristi kept the fire pits going and the food and coffee hot.

Eide Fox and Fur brought out an amazing selection of hats, mitts and earmuffs. They even have pelts that can be made into propeller covers/warmers.

Trick Air besides have a yummy lunch for everyone, pilots in charge also got a great Trick Air tee-shirt.
