EAA Chapter 1174 Acquires Food Service Equipment
This pair of Ercoupe 415s were busy June 12 as EAA Chapter 1174 provided 118 Young Eagle rides at Fergus Falls Municipal Airport-Einar Mickelson Field. The aircraft are registered to William Stilley of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Daniel Larson of Fergus Falls.

Fergus Falls EAA Chapter 1174 took a hands-on approach to solving a perplexing problem. When Dad's Belgian Waffles wasn't available to provide the main fare for a June 12 fly-in, members purchased waffle irons and organized their own breakfast.
"We served 1,061 meals," said Chapter Vice President Dave Jennen, who has been a Young Eagles coordinator for 22 years and flown 1,279 prospective aviators.
A group from a local gymnastic club the Fergus Falls Flippers bussed tables and helped in the kitchen. Hilcrest Lutheran Academy provided help serving and also displayed a radio controlled kit that the local EAA chapter provided to them.
"Other community members who showed up and volunteered their services," Jennen added. "The waffle cooks were friends who volunteered. We had about 20 members who worked the event flying Young Eagles and worked in the kitchen."
EAA Chapter 1174 partners with a number of area schools regarding its Young Eagles program. The goal is providing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) supplies for them as needed. During the June 12 Fergus Falls fly-in and waffle breakfast, 118 Young Eagles flew. "We will offer scholarships to EAA Air Academy Camps as well as other scholarships for aviation," Jennen said, adding event proceeds will be spent promoting aviation in the community.
