Three Honored For Aviation Contributions in Minnesota
Every year the Federal Aviation Administration Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) in Minneapolis has nominations for Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT), Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) Representative of the Year.
Casey Komarek from Two Harbors was selected as the 2021 Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) of the Year for the Minnesota District.
Laura Herrmann from St. Bonifacius was selected as the 2021 FAASTeam Representative of the Year for the Minnesota District.
Ambyr Peterson from Minneapolis was selected as the 2021 Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) of the Year for the Minnesota District. She was also chosen as the Great Lake Regional CFI of the Year.
The FSDOs serve as local representatives of the FAA. Each office reports to one of nine regional FAA offices and performs a variety of compliance and enforcement actions.
Such items include low-flying aircraft reporting, accident reporting, air carrier certification and operations, aircraft maintenance, aircraft operational issues, aircraft permits, airmen certification (licensing) for pilots, mechanics, repairmen, dispatchers, and parachute rigger, certification and modification issues, and enforcement of airmen and aircraft regulations.
As of November 2015, there are 78 such offices nationwide, physically located in every state except for Delaware, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
