An event promoting the combination of people, airplanes and animals in need of rescue
There were more warm, fuzzy feelings than you could shake a stick at during the Sierra Hotel Aero Pet Expo held October 17 at the Commemorative Air Force Hanger at Fleming Field in South St. Paul. There would have been a certain element of danger should one have shaken a stick at the event anyway, what with all the four footed friends around.
It was a great day for shaking hands and shaking paws as pets and pet owners got to know one another. Attendees got first hand information on how pet rescue works. They engaged in building networks of resources. They even participated in a costume parade. The function was fun, entertaining, and educational.
Of particular interest was Caleb Smith, founder and owner of STEM Bunnies, a foster rabbit and rescue program that allows individuals and organizations to rent a bunny to assess whether owning a rabbit is realistic. The 11-year old entrepreneur is a poplar Bridge Elementary fifth grader. Look for Caleb on the list of the Fortune 500 companies in the future.
The Sierra Hotel Aero Pet Expo was such a success, the second annual Pet Expo is already in the planning stage. Stay tuned for more information to come.
