Best Aviation Writing Noel Allard, a member of the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame, was honored for the best aviation writing by a Minnesotan. Allard began his writing career in 1970, and produced his first book, SPEED, the Biography of Charles "Speed" Holman in 1976. This led to his second book, the Minnesota Aviation History Book, 1857-1945. For 15 years, he wrote the Mystery Airplane contest in the Minnesota Flyer, and he also has penned many articles in this magazine over the years. He has also written Hall of Fame inductee profiles as well as the induction program for 25 years. Jim Hanson and Allard are the only members of the Hall of Fame to also be honored for writing as well.
